In preparation of next weeks Roundtables and the release of our annual research report on the Australian telco market here are some early results from my analysis.
10% growth in mobile, 7% growth in data in 2004
Telco Services market 2004: $30 billion. Forecast: 5.1% growth 2005.
Telstra total market share 64.4%. Fixed market only: 73% market share. (down 4% over 5 years)
Over a 5 year period (2000 – 2004) Telstra has lost 8.7% overall market share.
Optus increase over the same period: 5.9%
2nd and 3rd tier operators added a meager 2.8% market share.
Total market revenue growth (5 year) 5.7%. Telstra 2.3%. Optus 16.1% . SPs 14.4%.
