Introduction into Powerline comms
Powerline works by deploying adapters at power substations that convert data signals from telecoms network into frequencies that can be transmitted over electricity cables. At the customer’s premises, a specially designed modem is plugged directly into a power socket to separate the data transmission from the electricity.
Through data enabling the power grid, powerline has the ability to transform in-building electrical wiring into a big LAN that can be accessed from any power socket connected to the grid. That makes it possible to network PCs, fax machines, printers and scanners – and in time stereos, A/Cs, refrigerators just by plugging them into the wall.
