Featuring Telstra BigPond Music

Telstra’s BigPond Music offers is the largest Australian owned online music store with over 1.2million tracks for download in high-quality (256-320kbps) MP3 format, which is compatible with nearly all digital music players and devices.

The BigPond Music site was first launched in 2004, originally offering downloads in the DRM restricted WMA format. In August 2008, BigPond Music began offering music downloads in MP3 format and was the first download site in Australia to secure deals with all four major record labels to sell downloads in the MP3 format. BigPond Music also offers a free downloader application that allows customers to download MP3 tracks and albums directly into the library of their favourite media player, such as iTunes or Windows Media Player.

BigPond Music launched a new site in October 2009. In addition to improved performance, the new site provides a variety of new content and features including:

  • Daily music news stories.
  • Video streaming of over 200 full length Live Gigs from local & international acts.
  • Create, publish and share Mixtapes.
  • Video streaming of local celebrities choosing their own Mixtape playlists.
  • Free Track downloads
  • Content Gifting functionality

Standard download music pricing as of January 2010:

Prepaid Vouchers were introduced in December 2005 and are available through a range of retailers including Woolworths, Big W, Tandy, Dick Smith and Telstra shops in $10, $20, $50 and $100 denominations. Telstra has run a number of successful voucher discounting schemes over the last 3 Christmas sales periods to generate high volumes of voucher sales.
