European EV policies
The European Union has indicated that it wants to see standards for electric vehicle (EV) plugs, loaders and batteries that will enable electric vehicles to travel across Europe without any standardisation problems.
The European Commission will launch an Electric Vehicle Action Plan this year, which will promote the development of electromobility throughout their jurisdiction. Apart from standardisation a key element of the plan will be innovation. They have also stated that they will not provide subsidies for the production of these cars.
Other environmentally friendly technologies will also be highlighted in the plan and hydrogen technologies will be included.
The Dutch government recently announced that their aim is to have 200,000 electric cars on the road by 2020.
