Croatians adopt online banking.
During January – March 2009 approximately 600,000 Croatians utilised online banking services, equivalent to 14% of the population and a 32% year-on-year increase. During the same period 156,000 businesses utilised online banking services, a 15% year-on-year increase.
Online banking usage in Croatia is expected to rise on the back of growing broadband penetration, improved computer literacy and awareness of the benefits of online banking. Familiarity with such services will in turn increase willingness by citizens to take up other online services, which businesses and governments across Eastern Europe are rapidly deploying in the hope of capturing benefits such as improved efficiency, convenience, and better accessibility to public and commercial services.
