In February Tasmania received a $3 million deal from the Federal Government to deliver health and education services over high bandwidth Internet connections to rural and regional centres.
Called Broadband for Rural Tasmania – the project will include access to enhanced video consultations, online training for health professionals and e-learning opportunities for clinical teaching at the University of Tasmania. Education services will include the primary, secondary and TAFE sectors and provide videostreaming in classrooms, specialised education packages and improved Internet access.
